Eight Immortals Temple Photo Tour
Located outside the walls of Xian's ancient city is the Eight Immortals Temple. The temple is the largest Taoist temple in Xian and also the most famous Taoist Temple in northwest China. Records indicate that the temple was first constructed during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and has been enlarged and remodeled during successive dynasties. The main buildings were all built during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The temple is named after the most famous 8 immortals of the Taoist faith. The temple is very large and extremely beautiful, and its courtyards and traditional gardens are beautifully manicured. It is a fantastic place for visitors to relax a bit after a busy schedule of visiting sites. Not as famous as Xian's other sites, the Eight Immortals Temple does not have crowds of people, making the temple a beautifully peaceful place without the crowds that are often found at the more famous sites.
