This morning you will first visit the historic Tiananmen Square, and then explore the mysteries of the magnificent Forbidden City, home to China's emperors for over 500 years. In the afternoon, you will visit Beijing's ancient Hutongs by rickshaw and see how people have lived in this wonderful city for centuries. In the evening, you will be taken to witness the excitement of traditional Peking Opera.

After breakfast, your local guide will escort you to the airport for your flight to Xian, capital of 14 ancient dynasties. Upon your arrival, your local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. In the afternoon, you will visit one of Xian's landmarks, the stunning Big Wild Goose Pagoda. After, you can cycle on Xian's Ancient City Walls, the best preserved city wall in China, to get a bird's eye view of this magnificent ancient city, or if you prefer, you can take an electric sightseeing car (about 0.5 to 1 hour).

Day 5 Xian / Zhengzhou (B,L)

Today, you will first visit the incredible life-size Terracotta Warriors. No trip to China is complete without a visit to the Terracotta Warriors. You will then be escorted to the airport for your flight to Zhengzhou. Upon arriving in Zhengzhou, your local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax, or step out to see what Zhengzhou has to offer. You'll be surprised what you discover.
Day 6 Zhengzhou / Luoyang (B,L)

Sites visited: Shaolin Temple, Forest of Dagobas, Luoyang
After breakfast you will be driven to the town of Dengfeng 75 kilometers (1 hour), where you will visit the world famous Shaolin Temple, home to Shaolin Martial Arts, one of the most famous forms of martial arts in the world. Enjoy the temple's expansive grounds and garden-like atmosphere. Explore its ancient Forest of Dagobas and the stunning Shaolin Kungfu Performance before being driven to Luoyang 70 kilometers (1 hour). After checking into your hotel, you will be free to step out into Luoyang for a little adventure on your own.

On this day you will be driven to the ancient Longmen Grottoes, where you will be awestruck by the artistic talent and ingenuity of ancient man. Upon arriving in Chengdu, your personal guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel for a short rest before you are taken out for a delicious dinner of Sichuan cuisine at a local restaurant.

You will visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on this day to get close to China's beloved giant pandas. The giant panda is known as a living treasure in China and is revered throughout the world for its cute appearance, and love of play. In the afternoon you will visit the Wenshu Temple where you can spend some time relaxing in its tea house enjoying a cup of traditional Chinese tea while absorbing the special atmosphere of Chengdu and Jili Old Street.

Day 9 Chengdu / Shanghai (B,L)

This morning you will be free until your local guide escorts you to the airport for your flight to the vibrant city of Shanghai. After arriving in Shanghai, China's most cosmopolitan city, your personal guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. In the afternoon you will take a stroll on the historic Bund, known as a museum of architecture, and the famous Nanjing Road, China's most famous shopping street. Later you will visit a silk factory to see how silk is produced from cocoon to cloth, and get a bird's eye view of Shanghai from the Jinmao Tower.

After breakfast, you will visit the historic village of Zhujiajiao (50 minutes). In Zhujiajiao, you will walk across Fangsheng Bridge, Beida Street, and the Xi Family Residence. You will feel as though you have stepped back in time and right into a traditional Chinese painting. This village is simply breathtaking and a photographer's delight. After your trip to this beautiful village, you will be driven back to Shanghai.
