Beijing Summer Palace Photo Tour
Beijing's Summer Palace was the summer home of China's emperor's in the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) Dynasties. Construction began during the Ming Dynasties, but it wasn't until the reigns of Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong of The Qing Dynasty that the Summer Palace reached the scale it is today. The palace was burned down in the later years of the Qing Dynasty by the 8 allied powers, at the same time the Yuan Ming Yuan Garden was decimated. The Summer Palace was rebuilt, but not to the scale that it was before the fires. The Summer Palace is filled with temples, palace compounds and gorgeous traditional Chinese gardens. Walking through the palace is a real treat. Visitors are surrounded on all sides by stunning landscapes and fabulous architecture. A Beijing tour is not complete without visiting the Summer Palace.
